Irans Military Capabilities Essential for Regional Peace, Says Spokesperson Ismail Baghaei

New Delhi, June 26: Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, has clarified the country’s stance on regional security and self-defense. He stated that Iran’s military capabilities are aimed at maintaining security and stability. He raised concerns regarding the policies of neighboring countries and the escalating arms race in the region.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Baghaei emphasized, “There is no doubt that Iran is more committed to the collective security of the region than any other party. If the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) believes that seeking security from a country that poses the greatest threat to security is the solution, it is a disappointing sign of straying from its true objectives and failing to learn from recent negative experiences.”

Baghaei questioned southern neighboring countries about their aggressive actions against their Muslim neighbor, highlighting violations of the principles of good neighborliness and fundamental rules of international law. He asked why they allowed their territories to be used for missile attacks against Iran.

The spokesperson also inquired why these southern neighbors ignore the arms race, purchasing and stockpiling modern weapons worth hundreds of billions of dollars without any apparent defensive need.

He pointed out that they overlook Israeli actions against regional countries, including its occupation of Palestinian, Lebanese, and Syrian territories.

Baghaei questioned their silence on Israel’s nuclear arsenal, which remains outside any international oversight, while a country facing repeated threats and attacks is labeled as a ‘danger’ for its basic defense capabilities.

He asserted that everyone must understand that Iran’s military capabilities ensure the natural right of the Iranian people to defend themselves against attacks and crimes. Furthermore, these capabilities contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

He concluded by stating that Iran’s national security and dignity are non-negotiable issues. Just as the fundamental right to self-defense cannot be a subject of debate, the means of that defense cannot be bargained or compromised with anyone.
