Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to Take Oath in Rajya Sabha Amid Resignation Speculations

New Delhi, April 10: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to take his oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha today. This development has intensified discussions regarding his potential resignation and the appointment of a new Chief Minister for Bihar. Leaders from the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] have indicated that a decision on his resignation will be made in the next few days.

During a press conference in Delhi, JD(U) minister Vijay Chaudhary stated, “Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been elected to the Rajya Sabha and will take his oath today.” He added that after the oath-taking ceremony, Kumar will return to Patna for a meeting, where a decision regarding his resignation will be finalized within two to four days. The next Chief Minister will be chosen by the NDA legislative party leader, with an announcement expected soon.

JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad expressed confidence about Kumar’s new role in the Rajya Sabha. He hinted that significant decisions would be made in the coming days. “It is certain that all future decisions in Bihar will be made with the consent of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar following the NDA legislative party meeting and the selection of a new leader,” he said.

Bihar government minister and BJP leader Ram Kripal Yadav also shared his thoughts. He remarked, “Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will take his oath and serve the nation. He has contributed significantly to both the state and the country. Under his guidance, a new NDA government will be formed and will function effectively.”

Regarding the next Chief Minister, Yadav stated, “Our leaders will decide who will be the face of the new administration, and everyone will know soon.” JD(U) MLA Jayant Raj Kushwaha noted, “He has already been elected to the Rajya Sabha, and today’s ceremony is merely a formality.” He added, “You can see the progress Bihar has made over the past 20 years. The tenure of the Chief Minister will be remembered for the next 20-25 years.”
