Bihar BJP MLA Raju Kumar Singh Found Guilty in Celebratory Firing Case

New Delhi, June 6: The Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi has convicted Bihar BJP MLA Raju Kumar Singh in a celebratory firing case that occurred on December 31, 2018, at a farmhouse in Vasant Kunj.

The court found him guilty under Section 304 (Part 2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 30 of the Arms Act, ordering his immediate detention. Meanwhile, his wife Renu Singh and two other accused, Rana Rajesh Singh and Ramendra Singh, were acquitted of all charges.

According to the case details, on the night of December 31, 2018, MLA Raju Kumar Singh hosted a New Year’s party at the Vasant Kunj farmhouse. During the celebration, he fired his licensed pistol into the air, resulting in a bullet striking a woman, who tragically died on the spot.

Following the incident, Delhi Police arrested Raju Kumar Singh and his associates. During the trial, the court stated that firing a weapon in a crowded party was an extremely reckless act. The accused was fully aware that such firing could lead to loss of life.

While delivering the verdict, the special judge remarked that the firing by Raju Kumar Singh with a licensed weapon was a deliberate act that resulted in the death of an innocent woman. The court also noted that in 2023, charges were framed against Raju Kumar Singh under IPC Section 304 (Part 2) and Section 30 of the Arms Act.

After the verdict, Raju Kumar Singh was immediately taken into custody and sent to judicial remand. In contrast, Renu Singh, Rana Rajesh Singh, and Ramendra Singh were acquitted as the court found insufficient evidence against them.
