Ayodhyas Ram Temple Ritual Sparks Diverse Reactions Among Saints

Mumbai, July 18: The ongoing ritual at the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya has elicited a range of responses from local saints. While some have questioned the purpose of the ritual, others have deemed it appropriate. Many have also shared their views regarding the temple’s donation mismanagement and the ritual itself.

In an interview, Arya Saint Varun Das Ji Maharaj emphasized the need to understand why the ritual is being conducted. He stated that significant rituals typically require purification ceremonies beforehand. “What is the objective of this ritual, and why is it being organized?” he asked.

He clarified that if the ritual is in response to the alleged donation theft at the Ram Temple, then no theft occurred within the temple itself. The alleged theft happened where bank staff count the notes, which is located some distance from the temple complex. “The temple remains sacred,” he asserted. He noted that such rituals usually last for five, seven, nine, or eleven days, not just ten.

Varun Das Ji Maharaj also mentioned that if the ritual is being conducted due to mismanagement of donations, it is a positive step. “Mistakes happen in human life, and there should be a plea for forgiveness,” he said. He stressed the importance of clarity regarding who is officiating the ritual, as many aspects remain unclear. He warned that if the sentiments of the priests are overlooked, the ritual may not succeed.

In contrast, Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das Maharaj questioned whether mere prayers and remorse could lead to forgiveness from Ram Lalla. He highlighted the gravity of the sin caused by the theft of devotees’ donations, stating that no amount of remorse can absolve such wrongdoing. “One reaps what one sows,” he remarked.

He further criticized the opposition for capitalizing on the situation, asking if Akhilesh Yadav is willing to join them in Mathura.

Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj stated that purification rituals are typically conducted before any significant ceremony. He expressed confidence that the current ritual is being conducted with the intention of public welfare and will be successful.

Jagadguru Paramahansacharya from Tapasvi Chawani remarked that while rituals are beneficial, conducting a purification ritual seems mockery. “What need is there for such a ritual in Lord Ram’s temple? All sins and actions are absolved upon approaching Him,” he asserted.

He urged caution to prevent theft incidents, suggesting that such occurrences are not new and may stem from greed among those earning meager salaries. He dismissed the uproar as a ploy by those opposed to Sanatan Dharma, asserting that there is a larger conspiracy at play.
