
Jabalpur, July 17: An anti-drug awareness campaign titled “Staying Away from Drugs is Essential” is currently underway in Madhya Pradesh from July 15 to July 30. On Friday, Jabalpur hosted an awareness program under this initiative. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Anu Benival convened a meeting with officials from the Municipal Corporation, Women and Child Development, Education, and Sports departments. During this meeting, she administered an oath to create a drug-free society and distributed awareness pamphlets.
Present at the meeting were Deputy Superintendent of Police (Cyber Cell) Anjul Ayank Mishra and Joint Director of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Sonam Verbe. They emphasized the importance of increasing community participation to achieve the campaign’s goals of a drug-free society.
ASP Anu Benival remarked that drug abuse is a social curse. The police’s role extends beyond maintaining law and order; it also includes raising public awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. She led all attending officials in a collective oath to work towards a drug-free community.
Following the meeting, ASP Anu Benival and DSP Anjul Ayank Mishra led a team from the Municipal Corporation, Women and Child Development Department, and Belbag Police to inspect shops near schools and educational institutions in the Belbag area.
During a search at a shop near the main gate of a government school in Baika Bagh, cigarettes, gutkha, and pan masala were seized. Legal action was initiated against the shop owner, Dinesh Sonkar, at the Belbag police station. Additionally, the Municipal Corporation team confiscated gutkha and pan masala from other shops near educational institutions and took necessary action. The police and Municipal Corporation team warned shopkeepers that the sale of any narcotic substances near schools and educational institutions is prohibited. Strict legal action will be taken against any violators.
