Attacks on Abhishek and Kalyan Banerjee Reflect Public Outrage, Says Agnimitra Paul

Kolkata, May 31: Agnimitra Paul, a minister in the West Bengal government, participated in the Bangla Culture Festival held at Rabindra Bhavan in Asansol on Sunday. During the event, he showcased Rabindra Sangeet, adding to the cultural festivities enjoyed by a large number of local residents and art enthusiasts.

In a conversation with reporters, Paul launched a sharp critique of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) regarding the recent attacks on TMC MPs Abhishek Banerjee and Kalyan Banerjee. He claimed that allegations linking these incidents to the BJP have been proven baseless.

Paul stated, “Abhishek Banerjee initially blamed the BJP for these attacks, but following the arrests, it became clear that the accused are closely associated with former TMC MLA Lovely Maity and other TMC workers. This is a result of the growing public outrage.”

He accused the TMC of engaging in practices such as ‘tola baazi’, syndicates, and ‘cut-money’ politics. According to him, the party has focused more on these activities rather than serving the public, which has hindered the development of West Bengal.

Paul also targeted former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asserting that the state government intervenes in nearly every matter. He remarked, “If any public representative believes they have done nothing wrong and have not deceived the public, they should not hesitate to approach the courts. Trust should be placed in the judiciary.”

Additionally, Agnimitra Paul raised questions about Abhishek Banerjee’s health and his hospitalization. He emphasized that the final decision regarding a person’s health lies with the doctors. He commented that if physicians do not find any serious issues and routine treatment is sufficient, there should be no need for hospitalization driven by political motives.

He concluded, “In health matters, the doctors’ opinions are paramount. Neither the government nor any political party can influence medical decisions. Politics should be kept away from sensitive issues like health.”
