Guwahati, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : Assam is emerging as a prime example of the ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, showcasing the nation’s development journey, cultural diversity, and natural richness. This initiative is not merely a government program; it serves as a vital tool for connecting various parts of the country and strengthening the spirit of unity in diversity.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya made these remarks during a discussion with a 13-member media delegation from Uttar Pradesh at Lok Bhavan in Guwahati on Sunday.
He emphasized that India’s greatest strength lies in its diversity. While languages, cultures, traditions, cuisines, and lifestyles may differ across states, a strong thread of Indian identity binds them all. The governor noted that when people from different states visit each other, it fosters a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and traditions, thereby reinforcing national unity.
Acharya pointed out that Assam, with its rich cultural heritage and natural diversity, attracts people from both India and around the world. The state has vast tourism potential, and he stressed the importance of balancing development with the preservation of culture and natural heritage.
Highlighting Assam’s ongoing development journey, the governor mentioned that continuous work is being done in infrastructure and connectivity. Improved transportation systems accelerate development and create new opportunities in tourism, trade, and employment.
He also underscored the necessity of sharing Assam’s development story with other parts of the country, so that people can become aware of the changes and opportunities emerging in the state. Regarding the role of Lok Bhavan, he stated that constitutional institutions like Raj Bhavan and Lok Bhavan should serve as centers for public dialogue and service. Continuous engagement with the public is essential for strengthening democracy.
Acharya acknowledged the crucial role of the media, stating that it is not just a medium for news dissemination but also a powerful tool for connecting different parts of society and the nation.
The visit of the media delegation from Uttar Pradesh is a significant step towards strengthening cultural and social ties between the two states. It will help promote Assam’s development journey, culture, and heritage to a broader audience.
