Festive Spirit Soars as Ganesh Chaturthi Preparations Ignite Markets Across India

New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The festive atmosphere is palpable across India as preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi ramp up. In the days leading to the festival, markets are bustling with eager shoppers. People are purchasing idols of Lord Ganesha along with essential worship items, electric lights, artificial flowers, and various decorative goods.

In Kolhapur, Maharashtra, the markets are particularly vibrant ahead of the Ganesh festival. Crowds have gathered not only in large marketplaces but also in smaller shops nearby. The number of shoppers surged during the afternoon hours.

Meanwhile, in Agartala, artisans are busy putting the finishing touches on Ganesha idols. Sculptor Uttam Chakraborty noted that demand for Ganesha idols has surged over the past 8 to 10 years, surpassing even the demand for idols used during Vishwakarma Puja. He mentioned that while this increased demand has caused some delays in preparations for Durga Puja pandals, all idols will be delivered before the start of Ganeshotsav.

In Dharwad, Karnataka, the shopping frenzy has increased as well. Despite rising prices, many flocked to the markets to purchase Ganesha idols, worship materials, flowers, fruits, and decorative items.

In Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu, colorful and attractively designed Ganesha idols are capturing the attention of devotees. Shoppers are enthusiastically buying idols ranging from ₹100 to several thousand rupees for home and public worship.

The excitement for Ganesh Chaturthi is also evident in Patna, Bihar. Shoppers expressed their anticipation for the festival, with many delighted by the vibrant idols available this year. One shopper noted that while prices are slightly higher, they find ways to manage expenses during the festive season.

In Aligarh, a sculptor from Rajasthan shared that he and his family create Ganesha idols in various sizes and price ranges. The initial crafting of an idol takes about two and a half to three hours, while the finishing touches can take up to a week. He revealed that the family has been dedicated to preparing and finalizing the idols for Ganeshotsav for nearly two and a half months.

As the festival draws near, the spirit of celebration continues to grow, bringing communities together in joyous anticipation.
