
Chandigarh, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh has opened applications for 56 job positions, including 25 drivers and 31 peons. Interested candidates can apply through the official website until September 18, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
For the driver positions, there are 21 vacancies for the general category, three for SC/ST/BC, and one for ex-servicemen. The peon roles include 26 for the general category, three for SC/ST/BC, and two for ex-servicemen.
The application process began on August 28. Candidates applying for the driver roles must have completed at least 12th grade from a recognized board or university, with Punjabi or Hindi as one of the subjects in their matriculation. Additionally, applicants should possess a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) license and have a minimum of two years of driving experience. For the peon positions, knowledge of Hindi and the regional language is required.
The maximum age limit for both positions is set at 35 years, calculated as of September 18, 2026. However, candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per government rules.
Selection for drivers will be based on shortlisting, a practical test, and an interview. Peon candidates will be evaluated through application screening, interview performance, and a physical endurance test.
Applicants must also pay a specified application fee online, which is ₹1,000 for general and SC/ST/BC candidates from regions outside Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. For candidates from these areas, the fee is ₹800 for SC/ST/BC and ex-servicemen. For the peon positions, the fee is ₹700 for general and SC/ST/BC candidates from outside regions, and ₹600 for those from Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, including ex-servicemen.
