
New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar held important discussions with various foreign ministers during the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 13. The summit provided a platform for dialogue on bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues.
Jaishankar shared a group photo on social media platform X, featuring notable attendees such as China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, and Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
In his post, Jaishankar noted, “Had formal meetings with several partners during BRICS India 2026. As you can see, some informal meetings took place as well.”
Earlier in the day, Jaishankar met with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The two leaders exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and discussed regional and global developments.
Jaishankar expressed his pleasure in meeting with the Saudi minister on X, stating, “Happy to meet Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud outside of BRICS India 2026. We discussed advancing bilateral cooperation along with regional and global events.”
India hosted the two-day 18th BRICS Summit at the Bharat Mandapam, marking its presidency in 2026. Leaders from BRICS member countries, partner nations, and invited outreach countries participated in the summit.
The BRICS member nations include Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. Partner countries include Belarus, Cuba, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the discussions over the past two days have reinforced the belief that BRICS is not just a group of countries but “an ecosystem of solutions.” He called for timely action on all decisions adopted in the New Delhi Declaration during the summit.
Addressing the session on “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability,” Modi stated that the New Delhi Declaration would provide clear direction for shared vision and future collaboration. He noted that BRICS is entering its third decade, and the world now expects tangible results, not just ideas and commitments.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to all BRICS leaders for their active participation and significant contributions during the summit. He acknowledged that their suggestions have deepened and broadened BRICS cooperation. Modi also extended best wishes to China as the next BRICS host, commending all countries and their delegations for making the New Delhi summit a success.
