Chandigarh, July 28: The Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President, Keval Singh Dhillon, announced on Tuesday that the party will initiate a statewide ‘Samrasata Sankalp Abhiyan’ on July 29, coinciding with the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas Maharaj and the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima.
This nationwide campaign, overseen by the BJP’s national leadership, aims to promote Guru Ravidas’s enduring messages of equality, respect, social harmony, and justice across Punjab until February 20, coinciding with Magh Purnima.
Dhillon revealed that the campaign will kick off with the ‘Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasata Deep Mahotsav.’ During this event, lamps will be lit in Guru Ravidas temples throughout the state, accompanied by devotional songs, religious discourses, cultural programs, and community langars.
Following this, from July 29 to September 10, the ‘Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Kalash Vandan Abhiyan’ will take place. This initiative will involve bringing a sacred pot filled with holy soil from Guru Ravidas’s birthplace in Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi. The pot will be ceremoniously welcomed and transported across Punjab before being handed over to various Guru Ravidas temples.
The Punjab BJP President also mentioned that the campaign will include a ‘Sant Sampark Abhiyan’ running until August 31. During this period, BJP leaders and workers will seek blessings from saints associated with the Guru Ravidas tradition.
From October 5 to November 5, the ‘Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasata Yatra’ will carry the messages of equality, social harmony, and national unity from Jalandhar’s Dera Sach Khand Ballan to Seer Govardhanpur in Varanasi.
Additionally, from November 26 to January 15, 2027, the ‘Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Chhatrawas Sampark Abhiyan’ will be conducted. This will involve organizing ‘Samrasata Samvad’ programs in hostels to familiarize students with Guru Ravidas’s teachings and the vision of a ‘Developed India.’
To effectively implement the ‘Samrasata Sankalp Abhiyan,’ the state BJP has already formed a state-level committee chaired by BJP Punjab General Secretary Jagmohan Singh Raju. The committee includes former MLA Avinash Chander, Sheetal Angural, Ravi Inder Kahlon, former IAS officer S.R. Ladhar, Renu Kashyap, and Bhanu Pratap as members.
