Assam Celebrates PM Modis Birthday with Blessing Lamps and Warm Wishes

Guwahati, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : On September 17, 2026, Assam marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday with a series of special events across the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared glimpses of these celebrations on social media, revealing that citizens in towns and villages lit ‘blessing lamps’ to express their good wishes and blessings for the Prime Minister.

In a post on the platform X, Sarma noted that the people of Assam united to show their affection and respect for Modi on this special occasion. He wrote, “Today, the people of Assam came together to light ‘blessing lamps’ in cities and villages, sending birthday wishes and blessings to our beloved Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

The Chief Minister also shared photos from events held in Dhekiajuli, Jagiroad, Nalbari, and Gohpur, where large crowds gathered to celebrate. He highlighted additional celebrations in Morigaon, Raha, Duliajan, and Doomdooma, stating that these images reflect the love and respect that the people of Assam have for Modi.

In another post, he said, “These pictures showcase the affection and blessings expressed by the people of Assam for PM Modi.” Sarma later shared images from Bokakhat, Tingkhong, Golaghat, and Majuli, emphasizing that a festive atmosphere prevailed throughout the state, with thousands participating in evening events.

He remarked, “The spirit of enthusiasm and joy continued. Many more glimpses have emerged from Bokakhat, Tingkhong, Golaghat, and Majuli, where thousands joined in the celebrations.”

The events held in honor of Modi’s birthday saw participation from various districts across the state. According to the Chief Minister, the celebrations spanned Upper Assam, Central Assam, and other regions. Through the ‘Blessing Lamp‘ initiative, people lit lamps to convey their wishes and blessings for the Prime Minister, aiming to celebrate his birthday with public participation.

Photos shared by the Chief Minister illustrated significant involvement from both urban and rural residents, highlighting the widespread organization of events across different parts of Assam.
