Jaipur, April 8: Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has intensified his critique of the state government led by Bhajan Lal Sharma by releasing the 17th chapter of his digital series, ‘Intzar Shastra.’
In his latest remarks, Gehlot expressed concerns regarding the state of sports infrastructure and the support available to athletes in Rajasthan. He accused the government of neglecting key facilities such as the Rajasthan State Sports Institute (RSSI) and the Amritlal Stadium in Jodhpur.
Gehlot questioned why the fully developed infrastructure is not being utilized, despite the government’s slogan, “If Rajasthan plays, Rajasthan flourishes.” He highlighted that the Rajasthan State Sports Institute, developed during the Congress government’s tenure in line with the National Institute of Sports in Patiala, is equipped with modern infrastructure, including synthetic tracks and training facilities.
However, he claimed that the lack of coach appointments has rendered the institute ineffective, depriving talented athletes of proper training opportunities. Gehlot stated that this project, which cost millions, is becoming a ‘white elephant’ due to government inaction.
He also pointed to the deteriorating condition of the historic Amritlal Stadium in Jodhpur, alleging that poor maintenance and administrative apathy have led to its decline, leaving local athletes frustrated and without adequate facilities.
Describing the government’s approach as lacking foresight, Gehlot argued that failing to utilize significant investments is a waste of public funds. He accused the government of deliberately sidelining projects in Jodhpur, which he deemed unfair to the youth of the Marwar region.
Through his ongoing ‘Intzar Shastra’ series, Gehlot continues to highlight projects initiated during his tenure, aiming to portray the current government as one that is stalling development rather than advancing it.
This series has sparked a broader political debate on social media, focusing on the credit and accountability for development projects in Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, state president Madan Rathore suggested that Gehlot should adopt ‘Santosha Shastra’ (philosophy of contentment) and consider stepping back from active politics. Rathore argued that Gehlot’s political career has come to an end and urged him to make way for new leadership.
