Armed Robbery at Central Bank in Sitamarhi: ₹17 Lakhs Stolen in Broad Daylight

Patna, July 1: In a shocking incident on Wednesday, three armed robbers executed a daring heist at a Central Bank of India customer service point (CSP) in Sitamarhi district, Bihar, making off with approximately ₹17 lakhs.

The police reported that the robbery occurred in the Reega police station area and was captured on CCTV. The CSP is located in the village of Anhadi within this jurisdiction.

Rajeshwar Thakur, the CSP operator, was inside the shop when the assailants arrived on an Apache motorcycle. They reportedly entered the premises, pulled down the shutters to prevent anyone from entering or exiting, and threatened Thakur with a firearm.

According to police, the robbers seized cash from the counter and took money from Thakur’s pocket before fleeing the scene with around ₹17 lakhs.

Upon receiving news of the robbery, Reega police quickly arrived at the location, conducted an inspection, and initiated an investigation.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the CSP and surrounding areas. Preliminary investigations indicate that the entire incident was recorded on surveillance cameras, which the police are using to identify the suspects and track their movements.

Rajiv Kumar Singh, the SHO of Reega police station, stated that the police have identified the suspected robbers and are actively conducting raids to apprehend them. He expressed confidence that the case would be resolved soon, although the investigation is still ongoing. This brazen daytime robbery has raised concerns about safety in the area.

Local residents have urged the police to arrest the suspects promptly and enhance security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
