Another Arrest in VHP Leader Vikas Prabhakar Murder Case

Amritsar, August 15: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another suspect in the murder case of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar in Punjab’s Nangal. The accused has been identified as Manveer Ram, also known as Ashu.

In a conversation regarding the arrest, the victim’s brother, Suresh, expressed that some terrorists had martyred his brother in 2024. He acknowledged the support they received during this difficult time, stating that without it, they would have faced immense suffering. The NIA’s investigation revealed that a person based in Dubai had sent weapons for the crime. Suresh thanked the government for the recent arrest, expressing renewed hope that action is being taken in the case. He emphasized that his brother was a dedicated worker for the organization.

Suresh has requested a meeting with the Home Minister, stating that he and their mother have many things they wish to convey. He clarified that they do not seek financial assistance but simply want to share their heartfelt concerns with the minister.

He also mentioned claims that they received millions of rupees, asserting that the Punjab government provided them with a job. However, he noted that aside from some funds received by his sister-in-law, the family has not benefited financially.

The NIA apprehended the suspect at the Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport in Amritsar on Thursday, based on a lookout circular issued by the agency.

This case is linked to the murder of local VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar, who was shot dead in April 2024. The NIA took over the investigation on May 9, 2024, and has since filed one charge sheet and two supplementary charge sheets.

According to the investigation agency, the plot to murder Vikas Prabhakar was orchestrated by members of the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International based in Germany. The main accused have been identified as Harjeet Singh, also known as Ladi, and Kulbir Singh, also known as Sidhu. Manveer Ram played a crucial role in this conspiracy, assisting in arranging the weapons used in the murder.
