Anna Hazare Admitted to ICU in Mumbai Due to Kidney Issues

Mumbai, August 31: Social activist Anna Hazare was hospitalized on Monday due to a viral infection, severe dehydration, and kidney problems.

Hazare is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Bombay Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Gautam Bhansali.

The senior Gandhian activist was brought to the hospital by ambulance, accompanied by caregivers from his village. Dr. Bhansali stated that Hazare is undergoing tests, after which further treatment will be determined.

Hazare gained national attention in 2011 during the ‘India Against Corruption’ movement. Prior to that, he was well-known across Maharashtra for his social work and anti-corruption efforts.

Just last month, Hazare addressed a group of Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers, emphasizing that the youth of India are the future of the nation. He highlighted that integrity and selfless service are essential qualities for nation-building.

This group of 20 IPS probationers, who trained at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, visited Hazare’s ancestral village, Ralegan Siddhi, in late July. They studied the watershed development and rural transformation models implemented there.

During a protest by the Cockroach Public Party (CJP), Hazare stressed that peaceful movements and democratic dialogue are the only ways to address public grievances.

After the CJP protest concluded, he remarked that issues can only be resolved through dialogue. He emphasized that creating tension and resorting to violence will not solve anything. Dialogue is of utmost importance. He mentioned that he has undertaken hunger strikes 22 times but has never resorted to violence. Matters should be resolved through conversation, and actions should align with societal welfare and righteousness.
