New Delhi, August 26: South Delhi Superstars secured their place in the finals of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 with a 15-run victory against Central Delhi Kings on Wednesday. Anmol Sharma, a key player in the match, expressed his joy at reaching the title match.
Batting first at Arun Jaitley Stadium, South Delhi Superstars posted a score of 193/7 in 20 overs, with Anmol Sharma and Tejaswi Dahiya playing pivotal roles. Anmol scored an impressive 67 runs off 42 balls, while Dahiya contributed 57 runs from 33 balls. South Delhi‘s bowlers then delivered a stellar performance, bowling out Central Delhi Kings for 178 runs in just 19.4 overs.
Reflecting on the victory and reaching the finals, Anmol Sharma stated, “It feels great to reach the finals by defeating Central Delhi Kings. When we made it to the top two, we watched their match last night and knew they had been a strong and dominant team during the league stage. We realized we needed to stay alert and minimize our mistakes. Our team has been performing well in the last five or six matches, and everyone has contributed. The good thing is our hard work paid off, and the result was in our favor.”
Discussing the early wickets and his 49-run partnership with Tejaswi Dahiya, Anmol said, “When our early wickets fell, I wasn’t thinking about anything specific. Our only focus was to build a partnership. There was a lot of clarity between Tejas and me while batting together.”
He added, “We knew that if we stayed at the crease and kept playing, runs would come. Our main goal was to bat as long as possible and take the match forward. Unfortunately, I got out in the 16th over, but by then, our focus was on building partnerships and creating the best chance to win.”
