Amaravati, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation (APCPDCL) has issued an order to provide free electricity supply to Ganesh Pandals. This initiative will be in effect for nine days, from September 14 to September 22.
Under the directive, Ganesh Pandals in rural areas will receive up to 3 kilowatts, while those in urban areas can access up to 5 kilowatts of temporary electricity supply. This decision follows the announcement from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, led by the Telugu Desam Party.
APCPDCL has instructed superintending engineers and operation circles to ensure that all authorized applicants and organizers of Ganesh Pandals receive the free electricity supply. They are required to take necessary actions and collect applications from organizers in the prescribed format. Additionally, they must calculate the total amount and promptly submit the billing statement to the Chief General Manager of Finance at the corporate office.
The order specifies that the temporary supply category will only allow the stated kilowatt limits for the nine-day period. Should applications exceed these limits, the regular temporary supply process will be applied.
Field officials have been directed to verify safety measures before initiating the electricity supply. This precaution aims to prevent any accidents related to electricity and ensure compliance with existing departmental procedures.
Nara Lokesh, the Minister for Human Resource Development and Information Technology, announced the free electricity provision on social media. He expressed his happiness in supporting communities celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi across the state, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhance the festive experience.
Organizers of the Ganesh Pandals have welcomed the state government’s decision, viewing it as a significant step in supporting local festivities.
