Amaravati, May 5: State Minister Nara Lokesh announced on Tuesday that Andhra Pradesh is establishing itself as a global center for next-generation manufacturing and digital infrastructure.
He emphasized that the state is no longer limited to hosting data centers but is also producing components that power the global data revolution.
The minister revealed that the foundation stone for a new chiller manufacturing plant in Sri City will be laid on Wednesday. The state government considers this a significant achievement in the development of its industrial and digital infrastructure.
As the Minister of Information Technology, Electronics, and Communication, Lokesh stated that with a world-class industrial ecosystem like Sri City, robust policy support, and unwavering focus on growth and expansion, Andhra Pradesh is solidifying its position as a global hub for next-generation manufacturing and digital infrastructure.
In his statement, he noted that Andhra Pradesh is not satisfied merely being a host for data centers; it is determined to become the engine that powers them. The groundbreaking of Carrier Global Corporation’s facility marks a pivotal moment in building a comprehensive data infrastructure ecosystem, from energy and data centers to the components that sustain them.
According to an official release, this investment by Carrier reflects Andhra Pradesh’s strategic direction as it transitions from being a center for data centers to emerging as a global hub for manufacturing critical components that empower the digital economy.
With substantial global investments and a visionary policy framework, Andhra Pradesh is rapidly becoming one of India’s most important data center hubs.
Recently, a $15 billion Google AI data center hub was inaugurated in Visakhapatnam, marking one of the largest investments in digital infrastructure in India, with a planned hyperscale capacity of 1 gigawatt.
Proposals like Reliance Industries’ ₹1.6 lakh crore 1.5 gigawatt data center cluster, along with commitments from various global and domestic companies, further strengthen the region. The release stated that with an estimated total project value exceeding ₹6 lakh crore and a targeted capacity of nearly 6 gigawatts, Andhra Pradesh is significantly outpacing the current national capacity and creating a scale that few regions can match globally.
