Nagpur, June 18: Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has publicly distanced the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the alleged political maneuvering known as ‘Operation Tiger’. Speaking to reporters in Nagpur, Bawankule stated that the BJP has no involvement in this controversy.
“I have no information about ‘Operation Tiger’. I do not know what it is, who initiated it, or why it was brought up,” he remarked. Bawankule emphasized that the matter is entirely between the factions led by Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray.
These statements come amid reports that several MPs from the Shiv Sena (UBT) have traveled to Delhi, intensifying speculation about potential defections from the party. In response to allegations by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, claiming that MPs are being offered an advance of 15 crore rupees, Bawankule countered that elected representatives do not switch sides solely for financial gain. He suggested that Uddhav Thackeray’s faction should engage in self-reflection regarding why their legislators and MPs are leaving the party.
Bawankule reiterated that the BJP, under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is focused on governance and development, dismissing claims of involvement in creating instability within the opposition.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Navnath Ban launched a sharp attack on Sanjay Raut, asserting that neither the BJP nor the Shiv Sena has any connection to the so-called Operation Tiger. He attributed the turmoil to internal strife within Uddhav Thackeray’s faction.
Ban accused Raut of using inappropriate language and stated that his behavior has diminished his respect among the public. He emphasized that political organizations cannot rely solely on emotional appeals and pointed out that Thackeray and Raut have strayed from the principles of the late Balasaheb Thackeray.
“People are leaving your party because you have abandoned your father’s legacy, forsaken Hindutva, and aligned yourself with Congress. The public has already shown who the real tiger is and who is fleeing in fear,” Ban concluded.
