Shenzhen, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : World number one An Se-young has achieved a remarkable feat by winning the China Masters for the third consecutive year. On September 6, in Shenzhen, she triumphed over Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki with a decisive score of 21-17, 21-6. This victory also marks her seventh title of the season.
With this win, An Se-young becomes the first player to secure a hat-trick at the China Masters. She has now extended her unbeaten record against Miyazaki to 8-0. An is currently in exceptional form, having not lost a single game in this tournament. Notably, her opponents have failed to score more than 28 points against her in any match.
Miyazaki started the final strong, applying pressure with an aggressive strategy that aimed to disrupt An’s rhythm. However, An gradually regained control, establishing a significant lead in the second game.
This victory at the China Masters adds to An’s impressive season, solidifying her status as a leading force in women’s badminton. Earlier in the tournament, she defeated Akane Yamaguchi in the semifinals with a score of 21-13, 21-15.
Last month, An successfully defended her world title in New Delhi, reclaiming her position as the world number one after defeating Yamaguchi in the final with scores of 21-17, 21-14. Before aiming for Olympic gold in Paris 2024, she captured her first world title in Copenhagen in 2023 and also secured a bronze medal at the 2025 World Championships in Paris.
An is now set to return home to prepare for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, where she will strive to defend her gold medal later this month.
