New Delhi, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : India celebrated its seventh gold medal at the Asian Games 2026, thanks to the remarkable performance of the women’s compound archery team. Comprising Chikitha Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep, and Jyoti Surekha Vennam, the trio triumphed over China with a score of 238-234 at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square.
This victory not only secured the gold medal but also saw the team match a world record. The achievement drew congratulations from several high-profile figures, including President Droupadi Murmu, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.
President Murmu took to social media to express her pride, stating, “Congratulations to Chikitha Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep, and Jyoti Surekha Vennam for winning the gold medal in the women’s compound archery team event at the Asian Games 2026. Defense Minister Singh praised the team’s performance, writing, “Jyoti Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep, and Chikitha Taniparthi have achieved a golden victory for Indian archery at the Asian Games 2026. Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the significance of the win, noting, “A golden defense for India in archery.
