New Delhi, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Tejaswi Jaiswal, the brother of Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal, beams with pride over his sibling’s accomplishments in the cricketing world. Yashasvi has made a significant mark in Indian cricket through hard work and dedication, establishing himself as a crucial player for the national team.
Currently a regular member of the Test squad, Yashasvi is consistently delivering exceptional performances and setting numerous records. He is also considered a strong contender for an opening position in the One Day International (ODI) team as India prepares for the 2027 World Cup. His aggressive batting style has captivated fans in both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and T20 international cricket.
Tejaswi, 29, expressed his pride in Yashasvi’s achievements, stating, “I feel immense pride that my brother is playing for India. It’s a dream for everyone, and I’m thrilled.” A special coincidence for the brothers occurred on December 6, 2025, when Yashasvi scored his first ODI century against South Africa in Visakhapatnam, while Tejaswi notched his first T20 fifty for Tripura. He recalled, “Our parents were overjoyed that both their sons performed well that day. It was a wonderful feeling for us.”
In his youth, Tejaswi sacrificed his own cricket dreams to support Yashasvi in pursuing his goals. In an interview with a sports magazine, he revealed that he worked as a salesman in Delhi to help fund Yashasvi’s cricketing ambitions. As Yashasvi established himself, Tejaswi found the opportunity to reignite his own cricket career. Now, he has played across all formats for Tripura in the domestic circuit.
Yashasvi and coach Jwala Singh encouraged Tejaswi to play for Tripura. He has participated in five first-class matches, eight List A games, and four T20 matches, scoring fifties in all formats. Tejaswi shared, “Yashasvi and Jwala Sir suggested I go to Tripura to restart my cricket journey. That’s how my comeback began.”
Currently, Tejaswi is competing in the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL), where he has scored 117 runs in four matches, including a rapid 50 off just 19 balls. As the team’s ‘icon player,’ he bears the responsibility of batting in both the top and middle order, adapting to various game situations and bowling styles.
He discussed his versatility in batting positions and praised the UPL for providing opportunities to young players. “I’ve played in both the middle and top order. I don’t mind the batting order; what matters is how I can help win matches and contribute effectively,” he said.
Tejaswi emphasized the importance of the league, thanking the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) for organizing it. He sees it as a great opportunity for local youth and himself to showcase their talent. Reflecting on his return to cricket after years away to support his family, he noted that the comeback was not difficult, and he was simply happy to be playing again. “It wasn’t very hard. When I got the chance to return, I was thrilled to play cricket once more,” he added.
Now based in Uttarakhand, Tejaswi aims to continue playing in the domestic circuit. He has scored two centuries while playing in the 50-over Gold Cup in Uttarakhand. “I came here to play in the Gold Cup to secure my selection for playing here. My performance has been good, and now I’m also playing in the UPL. I want to excel in the UPL and see what the future holds,” he concluded.
