Jammu, February 3: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will embark on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir starting February 5. During this trip, he will assess the security situation, launch several development projects, and engage with local politicians.
Officials have confirmed that the Home Minister will arrive in Jammu on the evening of February 5. He is scheduled to meet with leaders at Lok Bhawan that same evening. On the morning of February 6, he will visit the international border in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district.
During his border visit, Amit Shah will inspect the equipment deployed by the Border Security Force (BSF) to prevent infiltration.
On the afternoon of February 6, he will chair a high-level security review meeting in Jammu. This meeting will include Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and local civil administration, police, and intelligence agencies.
Sources indicate that on the morning of February 7, he will depart for Srinagar, where he will inaugurate several development initiatives. Later that afternoon, he will travel from Srinagar to Chhattisgarh.
This will be Amit Shah’s second security review of Jammu and Kashmir in less than a month. On January 8, he chaired a high-level security review meeting in New Delhi concerning the region. Following that review, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, IB Chief Tapan Deka, and heads of CAPFs visited Jammu on January 14 and 15.
Official sources suggest that the Home Minister may also visit the upper regions of the Jammu division, including Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, and Udhampur districts.
During the January 8 security meeting, Shah assured security forces that they would be provided with all necessary resources to achieve the goal of a “terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir.” He instructed all security agencies to remain alert and work in coordination to maintain the achievements gained since the abrogation of Article 370.
The Home Minister emphasized the need for aggressive operations against terrorists, their over-ground workers, and sympathizers to ensure zero infiltration along the Line of Control and the international border, aiming for complete peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
