Alwar, September 1: A major tragedy was averted in the Butoli village of the Laxmangarh area in Alwar district, Rajasthan, on Monday. A 9-year-old boy named Bhanu fell into a 400-foot deep borewell while chasing a kite. Fortunately, after a grueling five-hour rescue operation, he was safely retrieved, bringing immense relief and joy to the villagers present at the scene.
According to reports, Bhanu, son of Shishram, was running towards the fields to catch a kite when he accidentally stepped on a stone covering an old borewell. As the stone shifted, Bhanu fell directly into the borewell. It is estimated that he got stuck at a depth of approximately 40 to 50 feet.
Villagers promptly alerted the authorities and police. By around 6:30 PM, the administration sprang into action, initiating rescue and relief efforts at the site.
Additional Superintendent of Police Priyanka Raghuvanshi stated that police and administrative officials arrived immediately upon receiving the news. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed for the rescue operation. Several officials, including SDM Manisha Resham, Tehsildar Manish Kumar Sharma, DSP Narendra Kumar, and Station Officer Rajesh Kumar, were present at the scene.
To safely extract the boy, excavation began around the borewell using JCB machines. The rescue team continuously supplied oxygen and water to Bhanu while closely monitoring his condition throughout the operation.
After nearly five hours of intense effort, the rescue team achieved a significant breakthrough around 11 PM, successfully bringing Bhanu to safety. As he emerged, the crowd erupted in applause for the rescue team, while tears of relief and joy filled the eyes of his family.
ASP Priyanka Raghuvanshi confirmed that the boy is in good health and was able to converse after being rescued. However, as a precaution, he was sent to a nearby hospital for a medical check-up.
