New Delhi, April 10: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit West Bengal on Friday. During this visit, he will unveil the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections. Ahead of his trip, Shah stated that West Bengal is weary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and is seeking change this time.
In a post on the social media platform X, Shah wrote, “Bengal, tired of TMC, now desires change. On Friday, I will launch the BJP’s manifesto to liberate Bengal from the TMC’s ‘reign of terror’ in Kolkata.”
He also announced that he will address a public meeting in Debra, West Medinipur, and connect with the public through a roadshow in Kharagpur. “I am eager to be among the brothers and sisters of the state,” he added in his post.
The BJP’s manifesto is expected to address various segments of society, with a particular focus on women’s development, farmers, and youth. According to party sources, the goal is to cater to the diverse needs of different groups, promising a comprehensive approach to development. The manifesto may include a special package for healthcare and education, along with announcements to promote industrial development and establish industrial zones.
On the welfare front, the BJP might promise financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month to beneficiaries of the ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ scheme. Additionally, under the proposed ‘Yuva Saathi’ program, similar monthly support could be promised to unemployed youth.
The party may also commit to fulfilling long-standing demands of state government employees by paying all pending dearness allowances within 45 days of coming to power.
The main work on the manifesto, which began in the first week of February, is expected to be completed by the end of the month. The party sought suggestions from industrialists, educators, traders, teachers, doctors, students, homemakers, farmers, Bengali expatriates, and other segments of society. The ‘Developed West Bengal Manifesto Consultation Collection Campaign’ was launched on February 7.
This campaign aimed to understand citizens’ aspirations and prepare the manifesto for the 2026 assembly elections. Party workers reached out to every booth and household, listening to people’s issues and expectations, presenting the BJP as a family that listens to everyone.
The campaign emphasized incorporating dreams from farmers to youth startups into future plans. According to the party, this is not just a political promise but a social contract. Citizens were encouraged to provide suggestions through phone, email, and QR code scanning. Additionally, ‘Aspiration Collection Boxes’ were set up in almost every district.
