Patna, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, has made serious allegations regarding the assault of a 12-year-old boy in Patna. The incident reportedly occurred while the child was filming a video related to an event celebrating the Prime Minister’s birthday. According to Yadav, the boy was attacked by a group of individuals, followed by alleged mistreatment by the police.
Yadav stated that he met with the victim, identified as Prince Kumar, to gather details about the incident. He claimed that the boy had recently fled severe flooding and was documenting the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ event by the Ganges when he was assaulted.
The opposition leader accused members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attacking the child, alleging they threw him over a railing into the river after the assault. Yadav further asserted that police arrived at the scene after a crowd gathered and also assaulted the boy. He claimed that while the attackers were released shortly after, the child was taken to the police station.
Moreover, Yadav alleged that the following day, police visited the boy’s home, pressuring him to alter his statement. He contended that officers instructed the child to claim that his assailants were his friends and worked together for the BJP.
The opposition leader criticized the police for intimidating the child and raised questions about the role of the Bihar government and the BJP in this incident. He assured that necessary actions would be taken against the police personnel and those involved in the assault.
However, responses from relevant police officials or the BJP regarding these allegations were not included in Yadav’s statement. Independent verification of the assault, the child’s detention, and the alleged pressure on his statement has not been reported.
