
Beijing, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce on September 19, 2026, China welcomed 42,582 new foreign investment enterprises from January to August this year. This marks a 0.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year. However, the actual foreign investment totaled 4 trillion 79 billion 95 million yuan, reflecting a 5.3 percent decrease from last year.
In terms of sectoral distribution, the manufacturing sector attracted 1 trillion 19 billion 55 million yuan, while the service sector saw foreign investment of 3 trillion 50 billion 42 million yuan.
Notably, the high-tech industries experienced a significant uptick, with actual foreign investment reaching 2 trillion 26 million yuan. This represents a remarkable 35.1 percent increase compared to the same timeframe last year, accounting for 41.7 percent of total foreign investment—up 12.4 percentage points from last year. Within this sector, research and design services grew by 74 percent, technology transfer services by 64.2 percent, and manufacturing of electronic and communication equipment by 41.9 percent.
When examining the sources of investment, foreign investments from France, Switzerland, and South Korea increased by 39.2 percent, 16.7 percent, and 16.5 percent, respectively.
