Alka Yagnik Shares Emotional Journey After Padma Bhushan Award Amid Health Struggles

Mumbai, June 24: Renowned playback singer Alka Yagnik has opened up about her emotional journey through health struggles following her recent Padma Bhushan award. In a heartfelt message on Instagram, she reflected on the challenges of the past two years and expressed gratitude for the love and support from her fans.

Yagnik shared a photo from the Padma award ceremony, where she received the honor from President Droupadi Murmu. She noted that she had been away from public events and media attention for the last two years.

In her message, Alka stated, “I have been away from the public eye for the past two years. I haven’t shared much about my personal journey. Many of you know that I have been facing health challenges. Your love, prayers, messages, and unwavering support have been with me every step of the way.”

Upon receiving the Padma Bhushan, she expressed, “Today, as I stand here to receive one of the highest civilian honors in the country, my heart is filled with gratitude. This award is not just for me but for the millions of listeners who have embraced my voice, carried my songs through generations, and stood by me through every high and low of life.”

Alka Yagnik emphasized that this moment symbolizes not just an achievement but also hope, love, and the strength of resilience. She added, “I am gradually returning to the normal path of my life. I am here today not just for myself but for all those who have been part of this journey.”

She also expressed her gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Government of India, stating that she accepts this honor with humility and respect.

It is noteworthy that in June 2024, Alka revealed she was battling sensorineural nerve hearing loss due to a viral infection. She mentioned that her hearing was suddenly affected after disembarking from a flight. Following this, she advised fans and musicians to be cautious with loud music and prolonged headphone use.

During the Padma Bhushan ceremony, Alka was seen walking with the assistance of a helper, raising concerns among her fans about her health.

With a career spanning over four decades, Alka Yagnik has delivered numerous memorable songs to Hindi cinema. Hits like “Ek Do Teen,” “Tip Tip Barsa Pani,” “Chura Ke Dil Mera,” “Taal Se Taal Mila,” “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” and “Agar Tum Saath Ho” have established her as one of the most successful and beloved singers in Indian music.
