
Mumbai: A plane carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar crashed while making an emergency landing at Baramati Airport on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred around 9 am. The aircraft had taken off from Mumbai about an hour earlier before the crash. Images from the site showed the plane engulfed in flames with wreckage scattered across the area. An ambulance was also seen rushing from the scene.
Initial reports indicate several people sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), six individuals lost their lives in the accident. Further updates on the situation are awaited.
Ajit Pawar was scheduled to attend rallies in Baramati ahead of the upcoming local body elections.
