Trump Asserts Iran Will Never Acquire Nuclear Weapons Amid Naval Blockade

Washington, April 14: U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran “will not acquire nuclear weapons” and confirmed that the United States has initiated a naval blockade to pressure Tehran to return to negotiations.

During an impromptu press conference outside the Oval Office, Trump emphasized that the dispute with Iran centers on its nuclear capabilities. He declared, “It is about them never getting nuclear weapons; Iran… Iran will not have nuclear weapons.”

He further noted that Tehran had not accepted this condition during negotiations. “We agreed on many things, but they did not agree to this, and I think they will. I am almost certain. In fact, I am completely sure. If they do not agree, there will be no deal,” Trump stated.

The President indicated that Iran has reached out to resume talks. “We received a call from the other side. They want to compromise very, very much,” he said.

On the military front, Trump confirmed that the blockade has begun. “Yes, it started at 10:00 AM,” he responded when asked if the naval blockade was in effect.

He described this action as part of broader efforts to counter Tehran’s activities. Trump asserted, “We cannot allow any country to blackmail or extort the world, as they are doing. They are truly blackmailing the world. We will not allow that.”

Trump suggested that the blockade could serve multiple purposes, including bringing Iran back to the negotiating table and stabilizing global energy markets. “Perhaps everything. I mean, both of these things certainly, and much more,” he added.

He stressed that the U.S. does not rely on the Strait of Hormuz for its energy needs. “We do not use this strait. We do not need it. We have our oil and gas, more than enough,” Trump stated, adding that the U.S. produces “quite a bit more” oil from Saudi Arabia and Russia.

He also highlighted the global significance of this waterway. “So we do not need it, but the world needs it,” he remarked.

Trump claimed that Iran’s military capabilities have been severely weakened. “Do not forget that their navy is finished, their air force is finished, their air defense is finished, their radar is finished, and their leaders are also gone.”

He warned that failure to reach an agreement would have consequences. “It will not be good for them,” Trump said, but he declined to elaborate further.

The President mentioned that other countries have offered to assist in implementing the blockade. “Other countries too… they have offered their services,” he noted, adding that more details may be announced soon.

Regarding China’s role, Trump stated that Beijing has not made direct contact but wants a resolution to the situation. “We have a very good relationship with China. They also want to see this end,” he said.
