Lucknow, September 3: Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, has raised concerns over the recent appointment of former Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust. This significant administrative change has sparked a sharp reaction from Rai, who argues that merely appointing a new CEO is not a substantial achievement unless action is taken against those allegedly involved in the donation scandal.
Rai stated, “What actions have been taken against those who are accused of embezzling donations? Will the new CEO take action against those who have stolen money from the temple? Will the funds that have gone missing from the divine treasury be returned to the donation boxes or recorded again?”
He emphasized that he does not consider the appointment of a CEO as a major accomplishment. Rai insisted that accountability must be established against individuals implicated in donation-related controversies.
The Congress leader remarked, “Until those who have misappropriated funds meant for God are held accountable, this step remains incomplete. Action should be taken against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, Gopal Rao, and other responsible individuals associated with the Trust.”
Rai also questioned the rationale behind the new CEO’s appointment, suggesting that existing irregularities are now being managed under an official framework.
He further argued that in a religious institution like the Ram Temple, individuals connected to religious traditions and spiritual leadership should be given prominent roles instead of administrative officials.
Rai suggested that individuals nominated by the revered Shankaracharya should have been entrusted with responsibilities, advocating for the appointment of religious leaders rather than a CEO.
It is noteworthy that the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust appointed former Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as its first CEO on Wednesday, alongside Swami Govinddev Giri as the General Secretary. Mahesh Bhagchandka, Madan Mohan Pandey, and Nirmala Yadav were also appointed as new trustees.
The Trust claims that Jitendra Mishra’s extensive administrative and leadership experience will enhance temple administration, financial management, security arrangements, and coordination among various departments for the benefit of devotees.
