Ranchi, February 24: A small aircraft operated by Red Bird Aviation, which was flying from Ranchi to Delhi, crashed in Chatra district on Monday evening.

Initial reports indicate that the aircraft was an air ambulance. Communication with Air Traffic Control (ATC) was lost suddenly at 7:34 PM during the flight, prompting aviation authorities to issue an immediate high alert.

The crash occurred near Karamatand village in the Simaria police station area of Chatra district. Local residents reported hearing a loud noise and seeing a plume of smoke rising from the forested area, leading to the dispatch of police and district administration teams to the scene.

According to preliminary reports, there were seven people on board the aircraft. However, there has been no official confirmation of casualties at this time. Following the loss of contact, relevant agencies launched a large-scale search and rescue operation.

Search efforts are being conducted based on radar data and the aircraft’s last known location. The dense forest and rugged terrain are posing challenges for the rescue teams.

Local administration, police forces, and disaster management teams are working together in the operation. Sources indicate that the Emergency Data Centralized Action Plan (ED CAP) is monitoring the entire situation, gathering real-time information.

Senior officials from the Civil Aviation Department and security agencies are also keeping a close watch on the situation. Currently, the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, and official information regarding the reasons will be available only after a detailed investigation.
