Mumbai, May 28: Actress Sanskriti Jayna is currently making headlines with her recently released film ‘Krishnaavataram.’ In this mythological-historical film, she portrays the character of Satyabhama. The story is uniquely told from Satyabhama’s perspective.
In an interview, Jayna shared, “The film includes many stories and events that the general public may not know about Lord Krishna. Satyabhama has been a significant part of Lord Krishna’s life.”
Jayna elaborated on the lesser-known history of Chhoti Diwali, stating, “Today, very few people know that Lord Krishna and Satyabhama together defeated the tyrant demon Narakasura, which is celebrated every year as ‘Chhoti Diwali’ (Naraka Chaturdashi). These are untold stories that the current generation may not be aware of. Through this film, they will get acquainted with these golden pages of our rich heritage.”
When asked whether today’s cinema is drifting away from its roots and spirituality, Jayna responded, “I cannot comment on the entire film industry, but we are making every effort to reconnect people with culture and glorious history through our film. Personally, I prefer not to call these stories ‘mythological tales’ because for us, this is history. We have evidence of places like Dwarka and many other aspects connected to our heritage.”
Discussing her character in detail, Jayna explained that through Satyabhama’s journey, audiences will not only understand her character but also gain insight into the deep relationships between Lord Krishna, Radha, and Rukmini. She expressed, “I feel a strong connection to Satyabhama. She was very simple in nature and never feared expressing her emotions. She was courageous and always stood for the truth. That’s why she is named ‘Satyabhama.’”
She added, “I believe today’s women will resonate strongly with her journey as they, too, are trying to find their strength and voice. Satyabhama symbolizes that power and courage. I feel connected to her emotional journey.”
