Mumbai, June 18: The highly anticipated film ‘Bantwara 1947’ featuring Sunny Deol released its teaser on Thursday, sparking widespread discussion. In a notable endorsement, Indian MMA fighter Pooja Tomar expressed her support for the film.

The teaser for ‘Bantwara 1947’ was shared on the Instagram account of Aamir Khan Productions. This film is set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition, a period marked by immense violence and suffering. The teaser aims to portray this pain authentically, resonating so deeply with Pooja Tomar that she couldn’t resist commenting, adding a fire emoji to the post.

Pooja Tomar has achieved significant milestones in her career. She has competed in the world’s largest fighting league, the UFC. Starting her journey in 2013 with the Super Fight League, she quickly made her mark with early victories. She has also showcased her talent on major platforms like One Championship and Matrix Fight Night. In 2022, she claimed the MFN Women’s Strawweight Championship title by defeating Bi Nguyen. In 2024, she made history by winning her debut match in the UFC against Reyane Dos Santos.

Regarding the film’s teaser, it opens with a voiceover stating, “Hindustan, which gained freedom after great struggles and sacrifices, unfortunately faced partition. Humanity was being murdered in the name of religion.”

This voiceover is accompanied by haunting visuals, featuring Shabana Azmi as a frightened elderly woman, while Karan Deol and Ali Fazal are depicted caught in the chaos of violence. Preity Zinta also grapples with the same dire circumstances. Additionally, viewers get a glimpse of Sunny Deol in a striking new avatar.

Sunny Deol’s dialogue delivery is impressive, with one line stating, “I have no intention of picking a fight, but I have no objections either.”

Sharing the teaser, Sunny Deol wrote, “When partition drew a line between people, it chose courage over fear.”

According to media reports, Sunny’s film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Nai.’ Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, the film is set to hit theaters on August 14.
