Mumbai, June 19: As Father’s Day approaches on June 21, renowned television actor Kanwar Dhillon has shared several inspiring insights from his father. He revealed that his father always taught him the importance of self-reliance.
In a recent conversation, Dhillon stated, “My father never taught me shortcuts, nor did he use his identity to get me work. In the early stages of my career, I didn’t realize the significance of his approach. There were times I wished for a little support to make my path easier, but over time, I understood that my father’s decision was crucial for me. This was the greatest lesson of my life. When you take responsibility for your own successes, failures, and mistakes, that’s when real learning occurs, and you become stronger.”
He added, “This experience taught me that success achieved through hard work is more sustainable and brings greater self-satisfaction.”
Recalling his childhood, Kanwar mentioned, “My father always kept me disciplined. I wasn’t given mobile phones or other gadgets as a child, so I could focus on my studies and sports. He believed that children should learn from real-life experiences rather than technology. This is why my brother and I participated in various sports. His strict yet balanced upbringing shaped our personalities.”
The actor further explained, “My father always taught me that falling and getting hurt is not wrong; true learning comes when a person falls and gets back up. This mindset has made me mentally strong and inspired me not to give up during tough times. Whatever position I am in today, my father’s teachings have played a significant role.”
Kanwar expressed his desire to be a good family man like his father, who prioritizes family and takes care of every member. “I have seen him work hard since childhood. He often worked multiple shifts and spent long periods away from home to provide us with a better life,” he said.
He also shared that his father started with very limited resources, arriving in Mumbai with just a hundred rupees, and gradually built a good life for his family through hard work and dedication.
When asked what message he would like to convey to his father on Father’s Day, Kanwar Dhillon said he simply wants to tell him that they are proud of him and love him dearly. “I hope you can now take some time to relax and enjoy life,” he added.
