Mumbai, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Renowned director Priyadarshan is set to release his new crime thriller, “Havaan.” In a recent interview, he reminisced about his youthful obsession with cinema and the lengths he would go to catch a glimpse of his favorite stars on the big screen.
Reflecting on the evolution of stardom, Priyadarshan recalled his experience trying to secure tickets for the premiere of the film “Kasauti.” He expressed that the memory remains vivid in his mind. “The effort to get a ticket for ‘Kasauti’ on its first day is still a significant mark in my life. Amitabh Bachchan was like a god to me. I still hold immense respect for him, but it’s hard to find that level of fanaticism for a superstar today,” he said.
The director noted that today’s stars are more accessible, often seen casually in public, unlike the elusive figures of yesteryear. He emphasized that watching a movie back then was not just about the film itself, but also about the stories surrounding the actors, which added to the allure.
Priyadarshan remarked on how the pace of life has transformed the nature of stardom. “As time passes, life moves faster. People today lack the patience of earlier times. They believe a film should be two hours long,” he explained.
He also pointed to the success of films like “Dhurandhar,” which challenge the notion that audiences no longer have the patience for longer movies. “When you see a film like ‘Dhurandhar’ becoming a blockbuster, it contradicts that theory,” he concluded.
