New Delhi, June 16: The Delhi Police have apprehended a suspect in a case of involuntary manslaughter, nearly a year after the incident. The victim succumbed to injuries sustained during a violent altercation, prompting authorities to file charges of involuntary homicide. On Tuesday, police announced the arrest of a 24-year-old man who had been evading capture for the past year.
According to police officials, an FIR was lodged at the Anand Parvat police station on April 20, 2025, detailing an attack by a group of individuals on the victim. He was hospitalized but later died during treatment.
During the investigation, the main accused, Sundar Lal, a resident of Anand Parvat, was arrested, along with a minor involved in the case. However, another suspect named Tanveer remained at large, frequently changing locations to evade arrest and legal proceedings.
On June 14, a special team was formed to apprehend the fugitive. This team included Inspector Ranveer Singh (Anti-Terrorist Officer), Head Constable Sarwan, and Constables Manish Yadav, Lokesh, and Manjeet, operating under the supervision of the Anand Parvat police station’s SHO and the overall oversight of the ACP/Police Chief.
The police reported that the investigative team made continuous efforts, including raids, surveillance of associates, gathering technical information, checking suspected locations, and developing local intelligence.
Based on consistent intelligence and technical surveillance, the team obtained reliable information about the suspect’s activities. Acting swiftly on this information, the police executed a planned operation and successfully apprehended Tanveer.
Authorities revealed that the investigation uncovered that Tanveer had conspired with his associates to attack the victim. The victim was forcibly taken to a secluded area and brutally beaten, resulting in severe injuries that led to his death during treatment.
Tanveer has been arrested, and police are currently interrogating him to determine his exact role in the crime and to gather evidence regarding the involvement of his accomplices. Tanveer is a resident of Motinagar and has previously been implicated in another case, with an FIR also registered against him at the Motinagar police station.
