Gandhinagar, August 28: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed district administration and the Commissioner of Geology and Mining to take immediate and strict action against alleged illegal mining on grazing land in Mehsana district. He also ordered an investigation into the alleged illegal renting of houses allocated under the government housing scheme in Patan district.
These directives were issued during the state welcome online grievance redressal program held in August. This monthly event, conducted on the fourth Thursday of each month, allows citizens to present their unresolved complaints directly to the Chief Minister.
Taking serious note of the complaint regarding illegal mining in Kada village of Mehsana district, Patel instructed the district administration and the Commissioner of Geology and Mining to act promptly.
In another case from Patan district, the Chief Minister acknowledged a complaint alleging that beneficiaries of the housing scheme were illegally renting out the properties allocated to them. He directed the district collector to conduct a thorough investigation and take necessary actions based on the findings.
During the statewide welcome program, citizens from Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Ahmedabad, Gir Somnath, Sabarkantha, and Vav-Tharad districts presented various complaints to the Chief Minister. Patel instructed officials to ensure that each complaint is investigated and resolved promptly and appropriately. Over 171 complainants attended the Chief Minister’s office during the August welcome program.
Additionally, action has commenced on 2,285 complaints received through the district welcome program and 3,028 complaints from the taluka welcome program. In total, 5,313 complaints were registered during the month.
The state government has utilized the welcome program as a platform for direct grievance redressal, and Patel consistently instructs district officials to resolve cases within set timelines, preventing unnecessary administrative delays for citizens.
The program was attended by Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Vikrant Pandey, Special Duty Officer Dheeraj Parekh, Rakesh Vyas, collectors from the respective districts, and senior officials from various government departments.
