AAP Leader Files Complaint Over Alleged Corruption in ₹23 Crore Road Tender in Delhi

New Delhi, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Saurabh Bhardwaj, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) concerning alleged corruption in a ₹23 crore road tender in the Tilak Nagar assembly constituency. Accompanying Bhardwaj were fellow AAP leaders Jarnail Singh and Sanjeev Jha.

In a post on the social media platform X, Bhardwaj claimed that there were irregularities in the road construction process and the use of government funds. He stated, “Today we went to the ACB and met with the DCP to file our complaint. The complaint pertains to a ₹23 crore tender from the Public Works Department (PWD), which was supposed to result in a robust road. Everyone has seen that the road has not been built according to the specified standards, and it is already coming apart.”

Bhardwaj accused the authorities of significant corruption in the road construction project. He mentioned that a 22-year-old named Sahib was recording the road’s condition on his mobile phone when Delhi government minister Pravesh Verma was present at the scene.

According to Bhardwaj, instead of assuring accountability from the officials or initiating an investigation, the minister defended the department and the road construction process. He further alleged, “The minister snatched the phone from the boy and slapped him.” Bhardwaj expressed frustration over the Delhi police’s failure to register a case based on their demands, prompting them to seek an FIR from the ACB regarding the alleged corruption.

Bhardwaj asserted, “We will not remain silent.” This incident is linked to ongoing disputes over a newly constructed road in Tilak Nagar. Previously, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal, along with Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and other leaders, inspected the road, claiming that the surface was deteriorating just days after its completion. Kejriwal has called for an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the road construction.

The day before the inspection, Minister Pravesh Verma faced allegations of slapping a young man, leading the Delhi police to file a non-cognizable report against him. Conversely, during Kejriwal’s visit to Tilak Nagar, the police filed an FIR against Bhardwaj, Jarnail Singh, Sahib Singh, and other AAP workers for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

According to police reports, Head Constable Ashok Kumar was on duty for videography when he was surrounded and assaulted by a crowd of AAP supporters. Following the incident, he underwent a medical examination. Charges related to obstructing a government employee from performing their duties and assaulting a public servant have been filed against the involved AAP members. Additionally, an FIR was lodged against Jarnail Singh for allegedly hindering government work.

Now, Saurabh Bhardwaj has turned to the ACB regarding the ₹23 crore road tender and the quality of construction, demanding an investigation and the filing of an FIR in this matter.
