Political Tensions Rise Ahead of Amit Shahs Visit to Bhopal

Indore, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Central Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah’s upcoming visit to Bhopal has sparked sharp criticism from Umang Singh, the Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. Singh questioned whether Shah’s presence would lead to a reduction in corruption or if he would address the state’s pressing issues.

Speaking to reporters, Singh remarked that no matter how many times Shah visits Bhopal, his time in power is dwindling, and the entire nation is watching. He posed critical questions about whether Shah’s visit would really change the status of corruption in the state.

Singh also raised concerns regarding the investigation report on deaths caused by contaminated water in Indore’s Bhagirathpura. He accused the state government of negligence and evading accountability. “The state government is directly responsible for this situation,” he stated, emphasizing that the administration has repeatedly tried to shield those responsible.

He further criticized Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, questioning why accountability was not being enforced in a district managed by him. Singh asked if the Urban Administration Minister and local elected officials, including the mayor, should not be held accountable as well.

Singh pointed out that while residents are being charged for water and sanitation services, they are not receiving clean drinking water. He highlighted alarming findings of bacteria in water samples taken from hospitals by the municipal corporation, calling the situation deeply concerning. Despite these issues, he noted, the government remains silent.

Residents of Bhagirathpura have long complained about contaminated water, yet the administration has failed to take meaningful action. Singh attributed this failure to the mayor and suggested that the mayor should resign. He questioned whether the Chief Minister is incapable of demanding the mayor’s resignation.

In a jab at the BJP’s claim of Madhya Pradesh being their stronghold, Singh remarked, “The BJP says Madhya Pradesh is our home, but that home has turned sour, and a departure is imminent.”

Additionally, Singh addressed allegations made by Rahul Gandhi regarding illegal changes to online Form-6 and vote theft, criticizing the NDA’s actions. He claimed that the BJP could manipulate the electoral process through Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, potentially stealing votes from ordinary citizens. He urged Congress to raise the voices of the people on these critical issues, asserting that Rahul Gandhi would continue to highlight these matters repeatedly.
