440 Individuals Face Action for Chain Pulling in Bhopal Rail Division

Bhopal, May 5: In a significant move to maintain uninterrupted rail traffic, the Bhopal Rail Division has taken action against 440 individuals for chain pulling. This decision comes as part of the railway administration’s efforts to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Official sources indicate that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has implemented strict measures to curb incidents of alarm chain pulling on trains. Misuse of the alarm chain not only causes delays in train operations but also poses a safety risk to passengers.

According to Section 141 of the Railway Act, pulling the chain without valid and sufficient reason is a punishable offense. Offenders may face up to one year in prison, a fine of up to one thousand rupees, or both.

In April 2026 alone, the Bhopal Division registered a total of 440 cases under Section 141 of the Railway Act, resulting in a fine of 62,150 rupees collected through the courts. The Bhopal Division is committed to providing better passenger facilities for all rail users.

As part of these efforts, the commercial department and the Railway Protection Force are conducting ongoing intensive checks against individuals who pull the alarm chain without valid reasons. The railway administration urges passengers not to engage in chain pulling without a legitimate cause, as it is a punishable offense. Such actions disrupt train schedules, inconvenience other passengers, and lead to financial losses for the railway.

Senior DCM Saurabh Kataria emphasized the RPF’s commitment to ensuring a safe travel experience for passengers and preventing incidents of alarm chain pulling through stringent measures.
