Jagdalpur, October 17 (Daily Kiran): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that since the formation of the BJP government in Chhattisgarh, a total of 2,100 Naxalites have surrendered, while nearly 2,000 others have been arrested and about 500 have been neutralised.

In a post shared on social media platform X, Shah stated that since January 2024, when the BJP assumed power in Chhattisgarh, 2,100 Naxalites have laid down arms, 1,785 have been arrested, and 477 have been neutralised. He said this reflects the government’s firm commitment to completely eradicate Naxalism by March 31, 2026.
Shah added that 170 Naxalites surrendered on Thursday, and 27 had done so a day earlier. Additionally, 61 Naxalites in Maharashtra also gave up arms and returned to the mainstream. “In the past two days alone, a total of 258 Left-Wing Extremists have abandoned violence, which marks a major achievement in our fight against Naxalism,” he wrote.
The Home Minister commended those who have chosen to give up violence and reaffirm their faith in the Indian Constitution. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our continuous efforts have ensured that Naxalism is breathing its last. Our policy is clear — those who surrender will be welcomed, but those who continue to take up arms will face strong action from our security forces,” Shah asserted.
He further appealed to all Naxalites to surrender their weapons and join the mainstream. The Ministry of Home Affairs also informed that the number of Naxal-affected districts in India has now reduced from 18 to 11, with the most affected districts shrinking from six to three — Bijapur, Sukma, and Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh.
