Ranchi, April 14: A minor dispute escalated into a violent clash at a toll plaza in the Mandar police station area of Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, late Monday night. A chaotic crowd of 50 to 60 people, en route to a wedding, stormed the toll plaza and brutally assaulted the staff.
The attack resulted in serious injuries to six employees, including the toll plaza manager. Reports indicate that some individuals from the opposing side were also injured. The conflict reportedly began over a trivial argument while passing through the toll. In a flash, the wedding convoy turned aggressive, armed with sticks and rods, and launched an attack on the toll workers.
Witnesses reported that the assailants broke into the cabin, causing havoc and chasing down the employees, including the toll manager. The scene turned chaotic, with screams echoing as the violent struggle unfolded. The toll manager and several staff members sustained severe injuries, with many suffering head wounds and collapsing in a pool of blood. After receiving initial treatment locally, the critically injured were referred to RIMS in Ranchi for advanced care.
The toll management claims that the attack was premeditated, asserting that the assailants arrived with violent intentions. Upon receiving the report, Mandar police arrived at the scene to restore order. A complaint was filed by the toll manager, leading to an FIR against unidentified attackers. Ranchi police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the toll plaza to identify the perpetrators. Authorities have stated that raids on potential hideouts of the attackers have commenced, and arrests are expected soon.
