Mumbai, April 14: A 14-year-old boy was brutally attacked with a knife by two friends following a minor cricket dispute in the Govandi area of Mumbai. The seriously injured teenager is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, while police have registered a case against the assailants and launched an investigation.
According to police reports, 20-year-old Arfan Altaf Natekar, a resident of Bainganwadi, stated that his younger brother, Arsalan, had gone to play cricket with friends Sahil and Shayaan at Rajiv Gandhi Maidan around 3:30 PM. During the game, Arsalan left the match for an unspecified reason and returned home, which upset Sahil.
Later that evening, while Arfan was at a shop with his family, Sahil arrived and called Arsalan back to the field. Arsalan complied, but Shayaan was already there with a knife. Upon arrival, a heated argument ensued among the three. When Arsalan demanded Shayaan to throw the knife away, Shayaan became enraged and began to verbally abuse him. The situation quickly escalated into violence.
Witnesses allege that Sahil incited Shayaan by saying, “Stab him, heβs useless.” Following this, Shayaan attacked Arsalan with the knife, inflicting multiple wounds to his left shoulder, back, and abdomen, causing him to collapse. Injured, Arsalan managed to reach a nearby shop, his clothes soaked in blood, alarming his family.
His relatives rushed him to the hospital and informed the police about the incident. Police officials arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report.
Authorities have confirmed that a case has been filed and an investigation is underway. Initial inquiries indicate that the dispute stemmed from the cricket match. A team has been formed to further investigate the matter, and actions will be taken based on the findings of the report.
