Mumbai, April 2: The cult classic action-thriller film ‘Don,’ released in 1978, remains unforgettable. Discussions about its third sequel, ‘Don-3,’ are still ongoing.
However, recreating the original film’s magic today would be challenging. The unique blend of seriousness and humor portrayed by the characters is hard to replicate. Did you know that Zeenat Aman faced difficulties on the set of this iconic film due to Amitabh Bachchan?
Working on ‘Don’ wasn’t particularly tough for Zeenat, as she had previously collaborated with Bachchan and the same crew. Yet, one scene in the film proved to be quite challenging for her. You might recall the scene where the injured Don is assisted by Roma, who helps him escape. In that scene, Zeenat had to carry the robust Amitabh in a wheelchair, which turned out to be quite a struggle for her. Zeenat herself revealed this in a recent post.
She shared a video of ‘Don’ and mentioned, “It was very difficult to maneuver that old wheelchair with Mr. Bachchan’s weight. I had to keep a straight face while, in reality, I was exerting all my strength to push him.”
Additionally, Zeenat disclosed why she accepted the role in ‘Don.’ According to her, she had always wanted to portray a fearless, adventurous, and intelligent woman, and Roma embodied all those traits. Therefore, accepting the role of Roma was a stroke of luck for her. Notably, ‘Don’ was the highest-grossing film of 1978, with Amitabh Bachchan playing a double role. The film’s story and dialogues were crafted by the renowned duo Salim-Javed.
