YouTuber Dhruv Rathee Released by Gurugram Police After Detention

Gurugram, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has been released from custody by Gurugram police after being detained earlier on Saturday. He was let go around 3 AM, following his arrest from his home in Sector 56 at 5 AM the same day.

Rathee was taken into custody for allegedly encouraging people to attend a protest organized by the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Upon his release, police advised him not to participate in the demonstration.

The protest aimed to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Before his arrest, Rathee accused the central government of creating a near lockdown situation in Delhi ahead of the CJP protest scheduled for October 10.

In a video shared on Instagram, Rathee raised concerns about the extensive security measures and transportation restrictions implemented in the capital. He noted that over 50 metro stations had been closed, trains were canceled, and mobile internet services were temporarily suspended in parts of central Delhi.

In his video message, Rathee stated, “How are you, friends? I have arrived in Delhi. Here, I see that more than 50 metro stations are shut down. Trains have been halted, and buses are canceled. They are effectively putting Delhi on lockdown because of our protest.”

He also criticized social media accounts linked to the BJP, which claimed that the protest would attract a small crowd, while the government was enforcing such extensive restrictions. Rathee emphasized that protesting is a constitutional right for the public.
