CJP Leaders to Appear Before Executive Magistrate in Delhi

New Delhi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Abhijit Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh, leaders of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), are set to appear before an executive magistrate today at the Delhi Cantt police station. They are currently in police custody. Ratna Singh, head of CJP’s legal affairs, confirmed this information.

In a post on X, Singh stated, “Abhijit, Ashutosh, and Saurav will be presented before the executive magistrate at 9 AM today at Delhi Cantt police station. A police officer informed me of this earlier this morning. As the legal head of CJP, I will be present at the police station along with other lawyers representing us.”

The three leaders were detained on Saturday at Indira Gandhi International Airport as they arrived in the capital to protest against the Election Commission of India (ECI). This incident is linked to a planned demonstration against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, addressing alleged irregularities in the special intensive revision of the voter list.

Meanwhile, Singh denied that the party has filed a petition in the Supreme Court for the release of its detained leaders and members prior to the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

She clarified that the petition circulating on social media was not filed by CJP, and the party is not approaching the Supreme Court regarding the alleged detentions. Singh posted on X, “Please note, this petition has not been filed by CJP. We are not going to the Supreme Court, and our legal team has not approved any habeas corpus petition.”

She tagged a legal news platform that shared the petition, emphasizing that it was not submitted by the party. The petition requests the issuance of an appropriate writ under Article 32 of the Constitution of India, demanding that those allegedly detained in connection with CJP’s proposed protest on October at Jantar Mantar be presented before the court and that anyone unlawfully detained be released immediately.

Additionally, CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde announced that protesters will march again towards Jantar Mantar on Sunday, vowing to continue until the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.
