Protests Intensify Against Chief Election Commissioner as Calls for Resignation Grow

New Delhi, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar are set to continue until he resigns, according to Ajinkya Shinde, the National Organization In-Charge of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP). Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Shinde urged party members and supporters to march to Jantar Mantar again on Sunday.

Shinde accused the Delhi police of mistreating detained protesters and called for the immediate release of CJP leaders Abhijit Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, and Saurabh Das, who were taken into custody at the Delhi airport. He highlighted a personal tragedy, noting that Dipke’s grandmother passed away on Saturday, yet police allegedly barred him from contacting his lawyer or family.

He questioned the basis of their detention, stating, “They arrived in Delhi on a regular flight. Anyone can travel by air. If they had violated any rules or protested on the street, police could have detained them.”

Shinde asserted that the police were emotionally tormenting Dipke and claimed that the families and lawyers of the detained individuals were not informed about their whereabouts. He criticized the Modi-Shah government for detaining the three leaders at the airport, suggesting it feared the unity of the people.

Recalling a previous protest, Shinde alleged that the central government had restricted train and bus services to prevent people from reaching the protest site. He stated, “The government’s fear indicates that we have already won half the battle. This is the beginning of a new fight.”

Clarifying the protesters’ demands, Shinde insisted they seek the restoration of voting rights for those who have lost them and the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, whom they accuse of facilitating electoral fraud. He emphasized that the restrictions and barricades set up across Delhi reflect the government’s fear of the demonstrators.

Shinde called on people nationwide to join the protest and reiterated that the movement would persist until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resigns, urging supporters to remain steadfast despite the police’s actions.
