Rohini Acharya and Mukesh Sahni Condemn Arrests of Protesters, Criticize Central Government

Patna, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, along with Mukesh Sahni, founder of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), has strongly criticized the detention of protesters at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The demonstrators were demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Reports indicate that over 500 protesters were taken into custody. Among those detained were Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das, and social media influencer Dhruv Rathi.

On social media platform X, Acharya expressed her support for the protesters and condemned the actions taken against them. She stated, “Do not intimidate or threaten; the country has awakened. The youth have taken to the streets against tyranny.”

In another post, she remarked, “Whenever you suppress a voice that speaks the truth, you will find many Dhruv Rathis and Sauravs across the country.”

Acharya also questioned the reports regarding the detention of CJP leaders Abhijit Dipke, Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka, and Dhruv Rathi. She claimed that these actions reflect the increasing arbitrariness of the central government.

She raised concerns about reports suggesting that some youths traveling to Delhi for the protest were stopped at the airport or prevented from entering the capital.

Referring to Article 19 of the Constitution, Acharya emphasized that restricting peaceful protesters could violate their fundamental rights. She condemned the detentions and called for the immediate release of the protesters.

Mukesh Sahni, the VIP founder and former minister of Bihar, also criticized the alleged derogatory terms used against youth, such as “flies” and “cockroaches,” questioning their rights and the Constitution. He described such remarks as unfortunate and disrespectful to democratic values.

Sahni recalled the legacies of freedom fighters like Juba Sahni, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Rani Lakshmibai, who fought against injustice and oppression. He stressed that the concerns of youth regarding employment, education, opportunities, rights, and constitutional values should be heard, rather than belittled.

He added that young people who ask questions are a strength of democracy, not “flies” or “cockroaches.” Those in power should respectfully address the concerns of the younger generation.

Sahni further stated that democracy is not limited to elections; it also encompasses the right of citizens to express their opinions and question those in power. He urged the central government to focus on the voices of youth instead of suppressing them, asserting that respectful dialogue is essential for upholding constitutional values and democratic principles.
